grenadiers

Ive now placed my order for twenty grenadiers,with front rank.having yet to decide whether I'm going to paint a guards regiment or whether to paint grenadier battalion of the 45th that served at bunker hill,long island.
i have know finished my command stand for the 1st guards,two ensigns carrying the kings colours and colonials colours of the 1st guards,with two drummers in gold brown tunics from household guards.my colonial tunic painted darker shade of red.

40mm ranges expand

well it now looks like their is a market for the bigger figures,foundry launching their 40mm acw range with cavalry.join Perry's with their Napoleons,Dixon miniatures 40mm wild west,sash and saber with awi,french and indian war,acw and front rank with Awi  and not to forget victrix with their 54mm range.

the royal welch fuiliers was rasied in 1689 and converted to fuzileers in 1702.their badge was prince of wales crest of the three feathers within a coronet with the mootto ICH DIEN,meaning i will serve.their nickname is the royal coats,due to their mascot,which comes from the royal herd.the 23rd advanced against the french at the battle of minden in 1759,for which they wear a red rose in their caps on august 1st.

fusiliers were considered elite troops and were all issued bearskins,except for light companies.the fusiliers hair was worn in a braided queue which was kept of the back of the jacket by black ribbon attached to the collar.the queue was later abolished in 1808 although the 23rd kept the black ribbon as a traditional distinction.fusiliers regiments also contained light infantry and grenadiers.light infantry wore a cap bearing the regimental badge,and this had a black roach.on campaign this was frequently replaced by black felt round or slouch hats.

fusiliers were originally rasied to escort and guard the artillery trains,and from there they developed into yet another form of infantry,though they were organized and trained in same way as other units.they were armed with shorter musket,the fusil,from which their title was dervied.to enhance their status,there were few fusilier regiments in the british army,and they developed their own traditions,badges and distinctions.
